Can't We Just Live?

Let me tell you about a story
That happened the other day,

Me and my homies were coolin and learnin like
we do everyday.

Then things got quiet and everybody was sad,
just thinkin, lookin like
Why are they so mad?

Then I turn on the news
And I was so confused.
I was thinking and saying this can't be true
So I looked at the TV,
My mouth dropped to the floor.

I sat down and said to myself
We goin to war.
This can't be happenin
Especially in Manhatten

These are the buildings we trade in everyday,
So many lives were taken and just faded away.
5,500 and the number still climbin
This why I'm here rhymin

Can't we just live?
Can't we just live?
Can't we just live?

It's been three days and the world's still shocked
About how the Trade Center just got rocked.
My mom is sad, my dad is mad
Everywhere I look things is just bad

We need to rise up and pray for those people
Say a prayer and hope you reach them
September 11, 2001 is a day we must remember
and come together as one

Lives were lost and dreams were taken
And this is all true and this is no faken
As my life goes on I try to understand why that
man did this from Afghanistan
He can't comprehend he can't possibly understand
The trauma and devastation he caused in this land

We cry and we moan, but we shouldn't feel alone
Why can't everything be positive
Can we live, can we live, can we live?
